“How should I start this Magic Monday Newsletter?”

“I believe you just did…”

“Well, it feels a little silly to start it this way.”

“We could all use a little more ‘silly’ these days, don’t ya think?”

Happy Magic Monday! I’m going to share the ‘magic trick’ that absolutely changed my life over 8 years ago. It’s the reason behind every step I’ve taken since I started traveling and building my business. It’s all because I connected with my intuition – and I’d love to teach you a really powerful way to connect with yours: write with your intuition.

What you need:
  1. A journal (I recommend getting a journal that’s designated for conversations with your intuition)
  2. Two colored pens. One color is the voice of your ego/brain, the other color is the voice of your intuition.

How To Write With Your Intuition

What you’ll do is start writing in your journal with your ‘ego’ pen, like we normally do when we journal. You’ll write in first person like normal, whatever comes to mind. You can start the dialogue by talking about how you’re feeling, what’s going on in your life, or any challenges that you’re facing. A great way to engage with your intuition is by asking ‘it’ a question. You can ask, “How can I overcome this challenge?” or “Why am I feeling this way about this situation? What should I do?”

Then use your ‘intuition’ pen and listen for the soft whispers that are giving answers or giving you any insights. Write in second person. You might hear a voice that says something like, “You are feeling this way because you’re not setting strong enough boundaries. What you can do is…” You get the idea.

Converse with it/your Self. Write back and forth and see what naturally comes up. You can write about how bizarre this practice is, your feelings about the text from so-and-so, or even what you should make for dinner. Listen for the answers.

Or, you could even have your intuition ask your ego the questions. “What’s going on in your life?” “Well, so-and-so just texted me and it made me so confused!” Again, you get the idea…

There is no wrong way to do this – just trust the process. 🙂

What does the voice of my intuition sound like?

  • Your intuition is that soft voice in the back of your mind that just knows your true feelings on a deeper level. I always say it’s like a whisper – an inner wisdom that doesn’t sound like your normal voice you hear every second of every day.
  • This voice is your authentic self and is often hidden by our thinking brain (logic, societal expectations, rules, etc.).
  • This voice is your greatest friend, biggest cheerleader, and deepest support. If the voice is negative or doubtful, it is not your intuition talking! Your intuition can also be pretty funny and witty!
  • Like a gut feeling, or instinct.

What’s the benefit of tapping into my intuition?

  1. Enhanced Awareness: You’ll become so much more aware of your true Self, your true desires (and fears), leading to more authentic decisions.
  2. Easier Decisions: Your intuition provides quick, almost instantaneous insights, leading you to the right decision faster than through analytic thinking alone.
  3. Constant Support: The more you listen (and follow) your intuition, you will build your self-trust because you always feel guided. Your intuition becomes a calming voice and you’ll quickly learn that ‘it’ is always right (even if it doesn’t seem like it at the time!).

Recent wisdom from my intuition

During a journaling session a couple weeks ago, my intuition told me to delete TikTok. That it was not worth my time and it was cluttering my mind. I followed my inner wisdom and deleted the app right then, and it was AMAZING! I felt so free and like I just got rid of a big weight! As a small business owner, there’s so much pressure to have an online presence and to go viral/build a following. So getting rid of that pressure was absolutely liberating! And since I deleted it, I’ve used that time to read a book, learn a new game, and fall asleep a bit earlier. 😉

See? Our intuition always knows what’s best for us.

Here are some rapid-fire tips to deepen the practice:

  • It will likely feel WEIRD to do this technique. We are conditioned to ignore the voices in our heads – that if we speak to our voices, we must be crazy! When I first started, I 100% worried about myself and wondered if something was wrong with me.
  • It can be viewed as a skill. It takes time to get stronger with this. At first, it may just sound like all you’re hearing is your ego – but keep trying. The more you practice, you’re ‘default’ voice you listen to will become your intuition without even thinking (that’s the goal!).
  • Back in 2016, I was inspired to try writing with my intuition (or God/Universe/Spirit – whatever resonates with you) by the book Conversations with God. It is fantastic, and I highly recommend it!
  • If you want proof that the ‘woo woo’ can make you a billionaire, Sara Blakely, creator of Spanx, gives credit to her intuition for her success. Proof here.
  • It can help to view your intuition as something separate in order to have a conversation with it/your Self. You can imagine the voice coming from a higher Self, a future version of you, or even a mentor.
  • Most importantly, don’t just listen to your intuition – follow it!

Intuition is the truest energy, for it is what your spirit is feeling.

On a Personal Note…

I feel like I say this a lot, but the past couple of weeks have been WILD! One of the reasons I wanted to share this Intuition ‘magic trick’ this week is because I recently hosted a workshop and taught this technique for an accounting firm. It was really amazing to connect with a group of female accountants and teach them how to tap into their intuition to enhance their professional and personal lives. Our intuition isn’t just beneficial for our personal life, it’s also extremely helpful with our professional life!

It was also a big week because our wonderful friends left Da Nang, so we spent a lot of time together on little adventures (and tons of meals). I absolutely love this nomadic lifestyle, but the downside is how many goodbyes there are included with it!

Oh, and speaking of writing with our intuition, during a journaling session a couple weeks ago, my intuition told me to delete TikTok. That it was not worth my time and it was cluttering my mind.
