Use the Time-Hop Method To Declutter Your Phone Storage

If you’re like me, you probably have thousands of photos on your phone and your phone is almost out of storage space. Here’s a great solution to this – plus a fun way to go down memory lane.

I’m sure you’ve heard of the app TimeHop, which shows you photos from the current date and every year prior. You can use this same technique to declutter your phone and make more storage space! Plus, you’ll have so much nostalgia each time you visit past year’s photos, bringing back many happy memories.

TimeHop Method:

  1. Each day (or you can do it each week): Type in the current date on your phone’s search bar. For example, type in January 2 (don’t include the year).
  2. Every photo from January 2, including past year’s, will pop up.
  3. Now go through the photos and revisit these memories. You can delete photos/screenshots/duplicates that are taking up space.

This is an easy way to clear up a lot of storage over time. It can be time-consuming and overwhelming to do a mass photo deleting session. Instead, just take a few minutes each day to ‘time travel’ and delete what you no longer need. But the memories are what make this activity extra rewarding.

Even today, I did my daily ‘timehop’ and was able to see my memories from past years: volunteering at a dog shelter in 2021, and meeting my Mom’s new cat Biscuit in 2022. Can’t wait to see what other memories will come back!

ON A PERSONAL NOTE

Happy New Year!!!! I’m one of those that is obsessed with New Year’s Resolutions (or I prefer “Intentions”) and I’ve always taken them very seriously. This year, I made a list of intentions/goals for the year and I just have a really good feeling about 2023. Does anyone else? I hope so!

Here’s the thing, though – I can also get very stressed during New Year’s because of all the pressure and high-expectations (“New year, new you!” 🤪). I spent time with my journal mapping out my year, but I did something a little different this time in order to avoid overwhelm.

I was reminded that every year is a cycle, and Winter is actually not the best time to be starting large, new endeavors. Think about Nature; animals are still in hibernation mode, trees are bare, and most flowers are nowhere to be seen yet. We are still in the phase of the yearly cycle of turning inward and resting.

So I kept that in mind and decided that the rest of Winter will be for envisioning and preparing for my year. Once March/April arrives, it will be time to start taking aligned actions and being manifesting my visions! It was such a relief to take that pressure off to go go go, so I thought I’d share with you in case it helps you, too. (Of course, ultimately you should do what works best for you!)
