Turning Your ‘Flaw’ Into Your Superpower
Do you have a trait – something you may view as a flaw – that you’re always trying to change or overcome? Perhaps it’s a tendency to be overly sensitive or an inclination towards shyness. For me, the persistent habit of over-thinking has often felt like a hurdle.
For years, I’ve tried to improve or change this personality trait. I’ve explored hypnosis, subconscious programming, journaling, and other techniques, to try to stop my over-thinking tendencies. The other week, I finally felt like I had a breakthrough. Instead of trying to change it, I wondered what it would be like to work with it.
What if being an over-thinker is simply a part of who I am? Instead of fighting to change it, could I surrender to it, and even leverage it to my advantage? After yeeeears of battling my ove-rthinking, I finally accepted it as a part of who I am.
I remembered a conversation I had with Ninh about my over-thinking – he had mentioned that it could be my superpower. He compared it to superheroes who have something they initially view as a curse but later discover it to be their greatest strength. An easy example is Elsa – she despised her ability to manipulate ice and snow until she learned how to control it through love, transforming it into one of her greatest strengths.
Ok, so how does making snow relate to sensitivity, shyness, or over-thinking? All we have to do is accept that this is who we are, then reframe our perception around these traits to find the positive. Here are some examples:
- Sensitivity: You’re more connected to your emotions and it allows you to empathize deeply with others. You likely have deeper relationships with people. You can easily adapt because you’re aware of your surroundings.
- Shyness: You likely have deep listening skills and thoughtfulness, making you a great confidant. You’re more independent and self-reliant because you’re comfortable with solitude.
- Over-Thinking: You think of all possible outcomes and you make well-informed decisions. You pay meticulous attention to detail, planning, and organization.
In embracing these aspects of ourselves, we not only accept our true nature but also recognize the unique strengths that come with them. So, what’s the trait you’ve been trying to change? Perhaps it’s time to see it as your own superpower. 🦸🏼♀️
✨Magic Monday Archive Episode✨
This week’s mini podcast episode is about having a mini vipassana meditation at home. This means sitting in complete silence for 4 hours – it’s fairly challenging, but it’s extremely rewarding. In this episode, I share what it’s like and the benefits and epiphanies you may experience!
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
ON A PERSONAL NOTE
Just a few weeks until heading back to Vietnam and I can already taste the banh mi, bun cha, and cafe muoi!! (The coffee in Bulgaria just does not compare… 😂) I absolutely adore Bansko, but I am so excited to be back in Da Nang and the sun!
It’s been a fun week of gatherings and creativity. Since Bansko is a digital nomad hub, I’ve been so inspired by the community and I’m feeling soooooo good about business and future projects. Tonight, I’ll be leading a Dream Workshop within a membership and I can’t wait to spread the magic of dreams to more people! Stay tuned, because I’ll also be hosting a Dreamwork Masterclass in November for my own network – so if you want to connect more with your dreams, I’ll be sharing more details on the event soon! 💙
Always grateful for you!
You are magic. ✨
