Finding Flow in the Rhythms of Your Day and Embracing the Magic of the Season

Greetings from frosty Spokane! Inspired by the incoming winter season, this week’s magic trick is all about tuning into the natural rhythms of your day – and your life. We all have unique energy cycles: times when we feel focused and productive, and other times when rest or reflection feels right. I often feel the societal pressure to always be in a “go! go! go!” rhythm, but that is ultimately what leads to burnout.

Instead of forcing yourself into a rigid schedule, why not flow with your natural rhythm?

I started noticing my own rhythms when I kept hitting a productive wall mid-afternoon. No matter how hard I tried to push through, I just couldn’t focus. So, I decided to use that time for lighter tasks. After figuring out my own personal rhythm, I’d start my morning off strong with all of my client projects, calls, and emails. In the afternoon, I’d do lighter tasks like journaling or planning.

By working with my energy instead of against it, I got so much more done, and felt less drained.

It’s not just about daily rhythms, though; our year has its own rhythm, too. As we move into winter, the world naturally slows down. Days are shorter, and our energy may feel more inward-focused. Winter is a season for reflection and restoration, so if you feel like you’re slowing down, honor that rhythm. It’s perfectly natural – and in fact encouraged.

Here are some practical tips to help you align with your personal rhythms:

  1. Track Your Energy: For a few days, jot down when you feel most energized, focused, or tired. You’ll start to see patterns in your day.
  2. Batch Tasks to Match Energy Levels: Save high-energy times for creative or challenging work, and use low-energy moments for rest, planning, or admin tasks.
  3. Honor the Shift: This is important! If you notice your energy shifting, adjust your tasks. Don’t fight it; flow with it. Do NOT feel guilty for taking a nap!
  4. Embrace Seasonal Energy: Use this winter season to reflect, set intentions, and focus on slow, steady growth.

When you align with your own personal rhythms, everything becomes smoother and more intentional.

Life is about rhythm. We vibrate, our hearts are pumping blood, we are a rhythm machine, that’s what we are…One can ascend to a higher development only by bringing rhythm and repetition into one’s life.

On a Personal Note…

Hello to you! It’s been a while! I recently went on an adventure to Seattle and Vancouver, visiting some of my dear friends and favorite places. It was wild being back in Seattle – seeing how much it has changed – and how much it hasn’t changed. Much like me, I suppose… Almost every night, I was with another one of my friends, and I was so grateful to catch up and live in their world for a little bit.

I got so caught up on my trip that I had completely forgotten what day it was, which is why I completely forgot to write Magic Monday the last time! Oops! But I was definitely living in the moment… 🙂

I’ll share a quick magical story that happened while in Seattle.

I had decided I wanted to get a pendulum – something I used when I was younger and wanted to have again now. So I went to an amazing shop called Ravenna Rocks. When I was parking, I saw this cute old lady pulling up in her Mini Cooper.

I went inside and instantly looked at the pendulums by the door. There was a small variety and I kept being drawn to the clear quartz pendulum. I decided to keep browsing and look around the shop (which is AMAZING, btw!). At that point, the cute old lady from the Mini Cooper walked in and began browsing, too.

I asked the employee if there were more pendulums to look at and he said he only had extras of what I had already seen. So after about 10 minutes of browsing, I decided to go back to the pendulums to get the clear quartz one. I knew it was the right one for me.

When I went back, though, the one pendulum I wanted was GONE! I couldn’t believe it.

I knew the cute old lady had grabbed it.

So I went back to the employee and asked if he had extras of that particular one, and he said yes. One left – so I took it.

I felt like this was too big of a coincidence to ignore, so I approached the lady as she was at the register and asked if she happened to grab the clear quartz pendulum.

She replied, “Oh yes! I came in looking for a new pendulum and I loved that one!” At this point, she pulled out another similar pendulum from her pocket, but this one was rose quartz.

“I use my rose quartz one all the time on my herbs, to help me decide which herbs I should use in the morning. But I wanted a different one for other types of decisions and guidance.”

I told her that I came in looking for a pendulum for the same reason and was drawn to the same exact one. Of all the days, times, and objects in the store – and we were drawn to the same exact thing. If that isn’t true magic, I don’t know what is!

This story is proof that when you follow your natural rhythms, magic happens. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: magic is REAL!

Keep Flowing,
Andrea
