Insight Timer App For Everyday Mindfulness

I could go on and on about the magic of the Insight Timer app! When I downloaded the app years ago, it was mainly just a meditation timer and not much else. Now, they’ve added so many different tools and resources to help with mindfulness, sleep, and overall health.

My personal favorite ‘magic trick’ is the Bedtime Tales section. These are stories read by a peaceful voice with soundscapes in the background to add to the story. To be honest, the story you choose doesn’t really matter because you’ll end up passing out within minutes of listening (which is the intention). Instead of scrolling on social media before falling asleep, definitely try Insight Timer’s Bedtime Tales. Each time I start a Tale, I try to stay awake for the story, but then I quickly fall asleep and stay asleep until the morning. Plus, there are benefits of falling asleep while listening to a whimsical story – they make your dreams extra vivid!

There are so many other benefits of Insight Timer: morning routines, daily check-ins, digital journal, quotes, music, breath work, yoga classes, and community challenges with people around the world. They’ve also added Live workshops – so imagine Lives on IG or TikTok – but about mindful topics. At any moment, you can join a live meditation, workshop, yoga workout, masterclass, etc. That’s the best kind of scrolling!

One of my favorite things about Insight Timer is that it’s accessible to all – it’s free! Most apps like this only give you a taste of the tools, and then you have to pay a hefty subscription fee. While there is a “Plus” option with Insight Timer, almost everything is accessible with the free account.

I hope you check it out and find something that speaks to you! 💓

p.s. I love Insight Timer so much, I even created a 10 minute meditation that you may enjoy. If you want to instantly relax your find and take a nice mental bubble bath, take a listen. 😉

ON A PERSONAL NOTE

Sawadee ka! Yet another visa run to Thailand! If you read my last Magic Monday email, you’ll remember my story of choosing Thailand to visit by flipping a coin – and I’m sooooo glad I did! Ninh and I spent 5 wonderful days in Bangkok and it was such a memorable trip.

Of course we indulged in all of the tasty Thai meals, and we also visited several malls. I never would have thought about traveling to a place because of the malls, but WOW OH WOW. The malls in Bangkok are UNREAL! They are so massive and luxurious; I felt like I was in the future! We enjoyed our time wandering around, listening to live music, and watching the crazy water fountains.

We also saw several friends while in Bangkok – who would’ve thunk it that several friends would be in Bangkok at the same time as us?! It was so nice to catch up with them all and be reminded of the magic of traveling.

The highlight of the trip for me was visiting Wat Pho, one of the most famous temples in Thailand. I was extra eager to see it because it was featured in the first episode of one of my favorite shows: Somebody Feed Phil. Like the malls in Bangkok, the Reclining Buddha was equally breathtaking.

What I loved most, however, was not the size of the Buddha or the elaborate decor of the temples – it was the feeling that I had while there. There truly is something magical in the air in Thailand. I felt so zen – and was reminded of my time living in Chiang Mai. It’s a feeling that’s impossible to describe. After wandering, we were blessed with holy water by the monks and I was feeling my sense of peace amplifying. It was a nice change from the chaotic energy of the city and malls.

All in all, an incredible visa run. Grateful for my lucky penny!

Might I suggest putting Thailand on your travel list?! 😉
