Conduct An Energy Leak Audit And Start Setting Boundaries

This past week, I did a tarot card reading for someone who wasn’t really familiar with the concept of self-love. He asked what it even means in the first place, and how to grow it. I remember when I joined a meditation group almost 10 years ago and, I too, was very confused about self-love. What does it mean to love myself??

What is Self-Love?

Self-love is a deep appreciation and acceptance of one’s Self.

It means taking care of yourself – mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually, etc. When you love yourself, you are more likely to make decisions that benefit your well-being because you know you deserve the best. You love yourself when you are authentic and living in alignment with your heart. 💓

It was so interesting to have this conversation about self-love, because it reminded me that it is a life-long journey (in my opinion). I can tell you that my self-love has grown tremendously since I’ve become mindful – it does feel like I’m almost a completely different person than I was 10 years ago! So I wanted to share this magic trick in case you also may be curious on how to grow your self-love (plus, it’s perfect timing with Valentine’s Day tomorrow. Self-love first! 😂).

There are many things you can do to nurture your self-love: meditate, affirmations, journal, read personal development books, set boundaries – it’s as simple as doing what you love.

Energy Leak Audit To Grow Self-Love

Another great way to nurture your self-love is to establish what could be damaging your love for yourself.

Energy leaks suppress your self-love, and they’re sneaky because they’re mostly unconscious. So what you’ll do is start becoming more aware and mindful of how you feel  throughout your day. Do an audit and notice what energy leaks you have: things that make you feel drained or unhappy without even realizing.

Some common energy leaks are:

  • Time on social media
  • Co-workers, family members, acquaintances – sometimes even friends
  • What you are consuming (food, TV, music, messages from news/people)
  • Your commute
  • Your subconscious self-talk
  • Your credit cards
  • Morning or nighttime routines (or lack thereof)
  • Household chores

As you go through your day and really pay attention to everything you do – make a mental note of how these things make you feel. For example, you could go to coffee with your morning buddy and afterward, realize that you’re tired or agitated. You may not even realize that this person is draining your energy.

Plug Your Energy Leaks

Then comes the time to plug your leaks. Start setting boundaries. Set time limits on certain apps, stop watching shows that are dark and negative, change what you’re saying to yourself. If an energy leak is meal planning, grocery shopping, and cooking, you can plug this leak by using a meal subscriptions or a platform that creates meal plans/shopping lists for you. Find ways, no matter how small the leak is, to plug these leaks and get back to showin’ yourself some love! Even if they may seem like minor acts, they have HUGE results.

By doing this, you’re honoring your Self and finally putting your Self first. Most of us seek external validation in order to feel loved, but it must start from within!

And if you ever doubt that you deserve love, just remember that you ARE love. And you are loved by so many, including me. xo

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Be so completely yourself that everyone else feels safe to be themselves, too.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE

Wow, wow, wow! What a week! I saw a Facebook post in a Da Nang group on Facebook and it was from a woman looking for people to go on adventures with while she’s visiting. She listed things she was interested in, and since I had the same interests, I reached out to her and said we should grab a coffee. Well, it turns out her name is also Andrea and she is also from SPOKANE! What are the odds I would meet someone with the same name and hometown in Vietnam?!

Connecting with Andrea was one of those experiences where 3 hours feels like 5 minutes and lose your voices because you talked so much. A spirit sister for sure!

This experience reminded me that our world is so much smaller than we think! It also reminded me of the importance of community and soul sisters. I swear, the more we all connect – whether it’s in person or online – the more magical our whole world is! I can tell you right now, when you meet someone that brings out your magic, you’re so inspired and believe that the Universe is working for you. ✨

Exciting things to come!

With love,

Andrea

p.s. If you’re reading this, please know how much I appreciate you. You are certainly not an energy leak for you – you fuel my heart!! 💞
