Listen For Your Daily Kledon To Start Your Day With Pure Magic
Today’s magic trick comes from one of my favorite dreamwork authors, Robert Moss, in his book, “Sidewalk Oracles: Playing With Signs, Symbols, and Synchronicity in Everyday Life.” In this book, Moss lists 17 “games” that you can play with the Universe. I remember when I first read this book years ago, I would implement many of these games into my life and they revealed so much magic!!
This Magic Monday, I’d love to share the game: Listen For Your Daily Kledon.
Kledon: Greek word that refers to the first sound you hear after silence.
Moss shares in his book that monitoring kledons was a favorite form of divination in the ancient world. “If you were seeking guidance, you approached the statue of Hermes, the divine messenger, in the center of the market in Peloponnese. You whispered your request for counsel in the ear of the god. Then you clapped your hands over your ears, shutting out the noise in the market, until you reached the outer gate. There you took your hands away from your ears, ready to receive the first sounds that came to you, as the response of the divine messenger.”
There’s no need to whisper your request into an ancient statue of a god; you can do this in your busy, day-to-day life. You can either ask a question or simply see what the Universe shares with you. All you have to do is drown out the noise of the environment around you, take a little time, and then open your ears back up to the environment. Pay attention to the first thing you hear (or possibly see). Maybe it’s woo woo…or maybe it’s a message meant for you. Up to you.
Then whatever it is you first hear, you can interpret it just like you interpret your dreams. Think of the context of your life and how the sounds or words may mean something specifically for you. Does it answer a question? Is it a metaphor? Is it simply a noise, like a birds call, that is a reminder or a lesson? Have fun with it…
Here’s my personal kledon from today: I had a quiet morning and as soon as I got into the car to run an errand, I turned on the radio wondering what I would hear. Immediately, it was the lyric, “I wanna see you be brave!” from the song Brave by Sara Bareilles. I got goosebumps and honestly couldn’t really believe it – it was the perfect message for me. My next venture out into the world is coming up and I always get a little nervous planning & executing, no matter how many times I’ve done it. But this message was my reminder to do it and that it’s all going to be okay! It always is… 😊

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
To be a kairomancer [someone who recognizes synchronicity], you need to trust your feelings as you walk the roads of this world, to develop your personal science of shivers, and to recognize in your gut and your skin that you know far more than you hold on the surface of consciousness.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE
Happy Monday to you all! I hope this past week has been magical for you! Can you believe we’ve reached the middle of May?? What?! Where is the time going?! 😂
This past week, I watched the movie “A Tourist’s Guide To Love” again and it made me miss Vietnam so much. If you haven’t watched it, I highly recommend it! It’s a very cheesy movie on Netflix, but it is an incredible showcase of Vietnam’s beautiful culture and cities. The movie shows so many places Ninh and I have spent time in, and it’s rather special to watch a movie about an American woman falling in love with a Vietnamese man and his home country. 💙 I’ve watched it with my parents and it was so fun pointing out little nuances, the places I’ve lived or explored, and even some of the exact spots I’ve eaten meals at! Anyway, just wanted to share this movie in case you were interested in visiting Vietnam (which you absolutely should!!), because it is a great preview of its beauty and kindness.
And now, onto another magical week – listen for those kledons and reach out if anything stands out to you!
Sending you love,
Andrea
