Feel extra motivated to get outside and walk!

If you’ve found it challenging to find motivation to go to the gym or get back into a workout routine, you may enjoy this week’s ‘modern magic trick’! I came across the Conqueror Challenges (I admit it, I’m such a sucker for Instagram ads! 😂) and have always loved incorporating PLAY into working out (or whatever I’m doing, really). This is a virtual fitness adventure platform where you pick a challenge set in various iconic locations, and it tracks your steps and exercises. You can virtually travel through places like The Shire, New York City, the Vietnam Coast, Mount Everest, Great Barrier Reef, and even Scooby Doo!

I was waiting to share this in a Magic Monday until I had completed a challenge, and this weekend, I wrapped up my 97 miles of Cotswald Way! It was surprisingly so fun – who would’ve thunk it?!

Every morning, I would check out the app and see my daily updates on my distance, timeframe goal, and progress on the map. Most challenges have a streetview feature, which allowed me to see my location every day – I ‘walked’ through charming neighborhoods, stunning rolling hills, and forested trails across the 97-mile journey.

Here are some of the bonuses:

  • Along the way, you’ll receive virtual postcards with interesting facts about historical landmarks and popular tourist spots.
  • You have the opportunity to support a cause, choosing a charity that focuses on either planting trees or removing plastics from the ocean.
  • Upon completion, you’re rewarded with a unique medal to proudly display at home.
  • The app automatically syncs to your Fitbit, Apple Health, etc. so you don’t have to do anything other than check your progress.

So, did I walk more while in a challenge? Does it actually work? 100% YES! Wanting to integrate more physical activity into my daily routine, this challenge was actually the perfect motivation for me. Usually, when Ninh and I would go somewhere, we would typically ride our motorbike. But during my challenge, almost every time we went out, I would choose to walk so that I would stay on track with my goal! I took several more walks on the beach and I was much more aware of my daily activity. So, yes, I am grateful I came across their Instagram ad, that’s for sure. 😉

If you’re curious about trying it, the link below will give you 10% on your first challenge. I’ve already signed up for my next one: London! (Can you tell I want to travel to the UK?!)

I received a code today that will get you 10% off your challenge if you’d like to try it! 🙂 If you do a challenge, I’d love to hear which adventure you’re going on!

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Don’t practice yoga to get better at yoga;
practice yoga to get better at life.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE

Hello, lovelies! I hope you’re all enjoying the transition into Spring. Another great ‘side effect’ of doing the Conqueror Challenge is that I was getting more active and was inspired to get back into yoga consistently. Now that the world is shifting into Spring, I also feel like a part of me is blooming – and it’s all because I FINALLY found a yoga studio that takes me back to that magical feeling of divine alignment.

When I lived in Seattle, I used to go to the most incredible yoga studio called Modo Yoga. The best way I can describe it is that every class was like a journey. The teachers put so much thought and care into the music they selected, the themes of each class, and of course the flow of the asanas. Ever since I moved away from Seattle, I have never been able to find classes that are even remotely close to Modo. I’ve tried classes in many of the countries I’ve lived in, and in Vietnam specifically, it seems like they’re mostly focused only on the asanas (poses). Yoga means “to yoke” and “to unite” – I have been craving mental and spiritual activation.

Every time I tried a new class, it was usually the same positions with no music and no ‘journey.’ A good workout, yes! But I needed more. Then recently, I had a call with my business mentor and I had opened up about how much I missed Modo Yoga. She said it’s almost like I’m grieving the loss of that magical feeling and the space that brought so much healing and growth to me. She was absolutely right. I missed Modo. And I really missed who I was when I regularly practiced. Not only that, but it became clear that I have been deep in yang/masculine energy: client work, calls, projects, social events, the list goes on. It’s no wonder that I felt out of balance, I needed more yin/feminine energy.

So the following day, I started messaging every yoga studio in town, determined to find a teacher that plays music and incorporates spirituality into the practice. Finally, one teacher said music is a big part of each class and she doesn’t only focus on the poses. I decided to give it a try – upon entering I smelled incense and heard my favorite genre of music and I knew that I was going to love this class. As soon as I sat on the mat and the teacher, Jo, led us into breathwork and intentions, I was holding back tears.

I found it! The class was the amazing physical and mental challenge that I’ve been longing for. And most importantly, it was so inspiring because she incorporated the spiritual aspects that I’ve been missing for years. I’ve already been back for more classes and I my soul feels so happy!

Wow, I don’t normally write this much in the personal section of my newsletter, but I guess it took on a life of its own! I just felt called to share this story because maybe there’s something you’ve been missing or craving, too. This could be your sign that whatever you are missing is waiting to be found. It’s already there, you just need to look for it. And if you can’t find it, maybe you need to create it (even my teacher said she had “trouble finding yoga classes that made her open her mind,” so she decided to open her own studio).

I hope you find and/or create what you are looking for. xoxo

Namaste,
Andrea
