It’s common for people to air their grievances online about an experience more often than their praises of an experience. Usually the things we don’t like about something are a bit more memorable, and we feel more inclined to complain or give feedback. But when we have a really great experience, we either keep going back or we don’t write a review or refer anyone – because that’s the way the experience should be. If it’s a good experience, the way it should be, we kind of leave it at that…

Here are some really interesting statistics about online reviews:

• Customers who have a bad experience are 2 to 3 times more likely to write an angry review than customers who had a great experience are to post a happy review.
• 88% of people trust online reviews as much as they trust their best friends’ recommendations.
• 80% of people choose to go elsewhere if they read bad reviews of your business online.
• 1 negative review online can cost up to 30 new customers.
• It takes 12 positive reviews to cancel out the nasty side effects of just 1 negative review.

Positive reviews can help small businesses so so much. But what’s important to remember is that there are people behind these businesses and positive reviews absolutely make their day! Ninh has a small business, and every time he gets a 5-star review, he shares it with me and I can tell it makes him so happy! Positive reviews provide so much motivation and remind us why we do what we do. Whenever I personally receive a review/testimonial, it makes me want to cry because it fills me with so much joy!

Leaving 5-star reviews not only makes the business owners feel so much better, it’s also exhilarating for you. It feels so good to boost someone else up and know that you’re helping the community. Leaving reviews is free, fast, easy, and can truly make a huge difference.

Sometimes, I take 15 minutes to find my favorite businesses on Google Maps or Facebook and write kind reviews. I highly recommend doing this every now and then! Wouldn’t it be neat if we changed the statistics so that people are 2 or 3 times more likely to write a positive review than a negative one?! Let’s make it happen! 😉

ON A PERSONAL NOTE

Hello, everyone! 💙

This past week was a really fun week. I celebrated TET (Chinese New Year) with my friend Giang and it was such a nice day. During TET, businesses shut down for about a week (sometimes longer) and everyone travels to their hometowns. For a lot of people, it’s the only time they get off the entire year. So it’s been very quiet in the city and it was nice to see families coming together.

I also had a Tarot card reading with a woman named Hakia. 🃏 Since I’m doing readings now and absolutely loving them, I thought I would get a reading done for myself. The cards and Hakia provided so much insight and inspiration within me. While I (personally) don’t believe cards can predict the future with 100% certainty, I feel like they sparked my creativity and provided some clarity. Usually, the answers are right below the surface, but it takes something like a reading to help you see the answers. I highly recommend getting a tarot card reading! They are magical!
